Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School will host its annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Thursday, April 23rd, at 5:30 pm in the Commons area on the first floor of the school, celebrating the efforts of our volunteers this past year at countless events and activities benefiting the students and school. The selfless efforts of our volunteers breathe life into many of the programs offered at MLWGS.
“Volunteers are a vital part of what makes MLWGS work,” said Executive Director Kristin Janssen. Quite simply, we would not be who we are without their support. The time, consistency, and care that our parents, alumni, and community members bring have a direct impact on our students, our staff, and the strength of our programs.”
“At Maggie Walker, being part of this community means committing to something bigger than yourself. It means showing up, supporting the work, and contributing to a standard of excellence that defines who we are. Our volunteers embody that commitment every day.”
“Because of their investment, we are able to expand opportunities, strengthen our programs, and deliver an experience that is not just good; it is spectacular. That is the Walker Way in action. I am grateful for those who continue to invest in this school and make that possible for our students and staff. Thank you!”
A special thank you goes to Ms. Valenta Williams and Ms. Ginger O’Neil of the MLWGS Foundation for their coordination and sponsorship of this dinner and the invitation lists. The MLWGS Foundation sent out invitations to our volunteers, including those who serve the PTSA, the GS Foundation, the booster groups, the School Advisory Council, classroom instruction, athletics, travel, and more.
Our volunteers make us proud and remind us that community spirit, optimism, and a can-do attitude are a model for all.
