Walker Debate and Forensics with outstanding performances at VCFL tournament November 14

Debate team 2019

The debate and forensics teams competed in the first District tournament of the Catholic Forensics League this past weekend. The V.C.F.L. is a speech and debate league under the auspices of the National Catholic Forensic League.

  • In Student Congress Tejas Muthusamy (’21-Henrico) finished in 1st place and Owen McDonald (’23-Richmond) finished in 4th place.
  • In Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Varun Mangdi (’21-Henrico) finished in 1st place and Aaksha Shah (’24-Henrico) finished in 3rd place. 
  • In Public Forum Debate Ethan Ringer (’21-Hanover) and John Staley (’21-Hanover) finished in 1st Place, Nived Sanjay (’23-Chesterfield) and Bruce Yanovitch (’23-Chesterfield) finished in 3rd and Diya Ram Mohan (’22-Chesterfield) and Sarah Townsend (’22-Richmond) finished in 4th Place.

In the forensics section of the tournament, Pooja Muthuraj (’22-Henrico) finished in 1st place in Original Oratory.

All of these individuals have now qualified for the State Championship tournament.
