Walker Debate earns 2nd place at the VHSL State Championship

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, Maggie L. Walker was declared the VHSL State Debate Runner Up School! 

Our final standings were:

Kyra (Theo) Chukin, ’28-Chesterfield – 1st Place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate

Cathleen Liu, ’28-Henrico, and Zoe Fang, ’28-Chesterfield – 1st Place in Public Forum Debate

Annie Katherine Robin Santhosh, ’28-Henrico, and Simone Shende, ’28-Chesterfield – 6th Place in Public Forum Debate

A note from our coaches, Celie Boswell & Erin MacPherson: 

“Our goal this year was to grow our team and to foster a love of debate in the MLWGS community. We couldn’t be happier to see so many new debaters on the team and have them representing Maggie Walker at the State Tournament. It was great to see all of our team members enjoy the tournaments this year and express their desire to continue debating in the future! We would also like to extend a special thank you to the parents, staff, and peers who have supported us all season.  We could not have done this without you!”
