Walker Speech & Debate teams are off to NCFL Nationals, May 23-24, 2026

Speech and Debate teams 2026

Congratulations to the following members of the Maggie L. Walker Speech & Debate team, who will be representing our school at the NCFL Grand National Tournament in Washington, DC, on May 23–24, 2026!

Qualifying for NCFL Nationals is an extraordinary accomplishment. Throughout the season, students first had to earn strong results at preliminary tournaments to receive an invitation to the Richmond Forum Speech and Debate League Qualifier Tournament. From there, competitors had to place in the top six of their events against some of the strongest students in the region to advance to the national tournament.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication, and competitive success this season.

Student Competitors:

  • Lola Acquista – Congressional Debate
  • Simon Moon & Katherine Robin; Kritika Goel & Jackie Liang – Policy Debate
  • Charvi Deorah & Geunyoung Chung – Public Forum Debate
  • Claire Adcock & Sanika Kumar – Dramatic Duos
  • Akash Arun Kumar Soumya, Urvika Bansal, & Shaivi Shankhwar – Declamation
  • Harper Cox & Vrinda Shah – Extemporaneous Speaking

Accompanied the following members of the MLWGS Community:

  • Coach: Erin MacPherson
  • Alumni: Isaac Hathaway & Isaiah Hathaway
  • Family: Gregg Acquista, Lee Adcock, Quinn Gomola Mullin, & Jasmine Li

The MLWGS Speech and Debate teams are sponsored by Ms. Celie Boswell and Ms. Erin MacPherson.

We wish you success. Go Dragons!
