Walker Speech Earns 1st Place at Super-Regionals

This weekend, the Maggie Walker Speech Team delivered an outstanding performance at Speech Super-Regionals, earning 1st Place overall!

We are especially proud to share that six of our speakers qualified for the State Tournament on March 28th!

Congratulations to these students for their hard work and dedication. 

State Tournament Bound: 

  • Akash Arun Kumar Soumya (’28-Henrico) – 1st Place in Original Oratory
  • Harper Cox (’29-Chesterfield) – 1st place in Extemporaneous Speaking
  • Emily Garcia Recinos (’28-Chesterfield) – 3rd place in Poetry
  • Evelyn Johnson (’27-Henrico) – 1st place in Impromptu Speaking
  • Melody Qian (’29-Henrico) – 3rd place in Serious Dramatic Interpretation
  • Shaivi Shankhwar (’28-Henrico) – 2nd place in Poetry

State Tournament Alternates: 

  • Urvika Bansal (’29-Henrico) – 5th place in Prose
