Types of Employment with Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School:
Certified: Teacher/Administrative/Substitute – Includes positions requiring a license. Substitute teacher qualifications: minimum of 60 semester hours of college credit.
Classified: Includes all non-teaching, non-administrative applicants including clerical, security, and seasonal coaching positions.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: According to the Virginia Employment Commission, employees hired in substitute positions are not eligible for unemployment benefits due to “lack of work” unless they have a reasonable assurance of returning after a break in employment.
