The vestibule project was conceived by Interim Director Dr. Jonathan Lewis last winter as he observed staff members with offices around the student entrance on Elizabeth Street working in their coats. At that time, on very cold days there was little difference in exterior and interior temperatures.
Dr. Lewis tasked Assistant Director Max Smith and Facility Manager Gene Roland with exploring options to fix this environment and both supervised the entire process. Work began with early estimates and design concepts, bidding, Regional School Board authorization, City permitting and authorizations to proceed. The project was recently completed for $18,560.
One year later, we are enjoying the new vestibule with stable entry temperatures and hopefully greater energy efficiency. Additional benefits include better security to the adjunct classroom and the main entrance, plus curtailing bird nesting behavior under the prior exterior awning and birds entering the building.
