MLWGS Scholar Athlete of the Week Jan 15, 2024 – Girls Basketball Yuna Chen

@patientfirst

Congratulations Yuna Chen!

Yuna Chen is a senior student from Henrico at Maggie Walker and plays for the varsity girl’s basketball team. She holds the position of captain and is highly committed to her team.

In the list of her accomplishments, Yuna has figure skated for three years and completed figure skating lessons with an agency. She holds a black belt in Taekwondo and has completed about 500 hours of community service, some of which were completed locally at the Science Museum. Additionally, she tutors elementary school children and is known for her dependability and kind-heartedness.

Yuna is the head of tech and sound for the school theatre department, as well as being a member of the drama board. She has participated in school play performances and will be appearing in a documentary about the competition class ‘We The People’, which our team are the regional champions of. And if that wasn’t enough, she is also mentoring with the Cadence Theatre Company and has helped them with multiple productions.

Yuna will be attending UPenn’s Wharton School for business next year.

Girls basketball coach Speedy Baughman, with a sixteen year coaching record at MLWGS, said; “Overall, Yuna is an excellent choice for any opportunity that comes her way.”

We send our gratitude to Patient First for supporting Walker Athletics!
